Enter the numbers. See exactly what the buyer pays, what the auctioneer keeps, and what the consignor gets net.
How the math works. Buyer’s premium is charged on top of the hammer price and paid by the buyer. Sales tax is calculated on (hammer + premium) in most U.S. jurisdictions. Consignor commission is the auctioneer’s cut of the hammer price. The consignor’s net is what they get after commission.
What this leaves out. Per-lot listing fees, credit card processing fees, shipping surcharges, buyer’s side fees on marketplace platforms, and specific-to-your-state variations on how tax is calculated. Read Buyer’s premium 101 for the full breakdown; read Consignor commissions for the seller side.
